The big choice to make is to get a rebounder with deep bouncing or shallow shallow bounces. Most people don’t know which is the therapeutic type for the Health Bounce. Most people want to start jumping away but the benefit is when the springs have enough G force that you only have to jump no more than 2 inches above the mat to get the Health Bounce. As far a bungee rebounders, which are great for cardio and toning only, don’t have that pop at the bottom that will do the Health Bounce. All the G force is delivered in a push instead of a pop over too long of a period to create the negative pressure in the lymph system. The best two rebounders for the Health Bounce right now are the Lymphaciser and the Health Circulator. These have high tensile strength springs and very low yield. The high G forces is created due to 2 springs attaching to a single focal point that exponentially changes the g force. The Cellerciser has multi purpose springs and has a good health bounce as it uses the belly of the spring if not jumping high and the other 2 tiers of the springs aren’t engaged entirely. The Needak has a tapered spring which is not the sample as a triple tiered spring.
The Cellerciser springs that weigh the most will give the deepest bounce. (106 gram springs). The Needak has the 2nd heaviest springs we tested at 92 grams. The Cellerciser springs should never need to be replaced as they are coated with zinc and are high carbon that don’t loose their tensile strength when the 2nd and 3rd tier make up for any loss tension in the belly or 2nd tired. The 3rd tier is super hard to stretch out.
The soft springs on certain rebounders that are low carbon usually need to be replaced every 2 years to keep up the initial tensile and yield strength. The softer springs tend to pronate the ankles more. The choice is to choose a rebounder spring that has more stability percentage or a softer bounce.
Note: the problem with analog springs the are not digitally tempered is that when we tested certain rebounder brands, each spring weighted slightly different. One spring would be 91 grams and the one next to it would weigh 88 grams. This is not acceptable to me. Springs made in tungsten molds should be more uniform and have less air bubbles in the springs that reduces the weight of the spring.
The most expensive rebounders have springs that will rarely need replacing under normal usage. The Cellerciser and Health Circulator are the only two brands that I have never had anyone call in for spring replacements. Most cheaper spring have springs made with more iron. The springs made with higher carbon alloys will be more resistant to stretching and deformation over time.
Springs that are designed to do the Health Bounce only must be single tiered and must have a very low coil count. The springs on a Health Circulator which has the highest end springs for the Health Bounce weigh about 54 grams each. When 2 springs are pointed to one focal point on the mat it is almost like a Cellerciser spring (106 grams) but without the 3 tiers. It’s like having 2 belly springs instead of one.
The Cellerciser triple tiered springs are made with high nickel content. The stretch out differently than just say a Needak spring. There is a night and day difference in the bounce. The main reason the Cellerciser springs should never need to be replaced is because their springs are double anodized coated. No other company I have found is doing this.
If buying a rebounder for the Health Bounce, make sure the springs will support your weight and not lose that “pop” over time. The Health Circulator which is one of the most expensive rebounders out right now, should move my lymph up to 14 times than my normal lymph flow rate. Most inactive people move about 1/5 teaspoon of lymph per minute. A good rebounder for lymphatic drainage should move about 4 teaspoons of lymph fluid per minute if doing it the correct way.
When doing the Health Bounce, when moving 4 teaspoons of lymph per minute, that’s equal to about 20 minutes of normal lymphatic flow in 2 minutes if using springs that will give just enough pop to create that negative pressure that most people looking for detox seek. On a bungee rebounder, there is so much air time that the negative pressure just cannot be produced in the body with its push force that I cannot recommend a bungee rebounder to anyone looking to do the Health Bounce.
