It is really hard to pick out a rebounder that has just the right bounce and does not jar. Some rebounders have springs that are not all the same weight and tensile strength that I have to do a 2-step just to keep my balance. It is super annoying to have to adjust my position every 3 to 4 bounces as the tensile strength in different parts of the mat are so uneven. The bungee type gives the fewest bounces per minute which it is nearly impossible to get a good lymphatic drainage on it. The Cellerciser and Needak are my 2 best multi purpose rebounders for all around bounce quality. For doing strictly the Health Bounce, the Lymphaciser and the Health Circulator have the lowest bounce that those looking for detox seek.
Having a good bounce means that my feet don’t cone in to the middle of the mat and slip inward. The Cellerciser is the only one that prevents inversion unlike the bounce of the 2nd best one that has a deeper bounce that cones in more, especially with heavier people. Having a jarring bounce might not seem so bad at first but down the road, if using the rebounder every day, the signs of cocking in the ankles and stress on the knees can show up sooner than later.
If there is not enough G force during a slower acceleration of spring designed for multi purpose rebounding, it might never create the negative pressure to flush the one way valves in the lymph vessels. G force feels much different if you have a third of the amplitude but 3 times the bounces, and vice versa. The Health Circulator with its low bounce is my best example in my videos of how the Health Bounce should be done.
When choosing a rebounder for the Health Bounce, the most efficient rebounders should allow you to not jump but do a shuffle from heal to toe. The bounce rate on a Health Circulator or Lymphaciser should be around 150 to 190 bounces per minute depending on someone’s weight.
If I can get at least 3 bounces per minute on a rebounder and not bottom out the spring, this is what I consider a high quality rebounder for the Health Bounce. Note: I mention the Health Bounce all the time as this is the reason I promote rebounders and nearly everyone coming to my site wants a rebounder for detox or bone density, not primarily for exercise. Not to be negative but most people that buy a rebounder for working out and plan on sweating all over it, good luck. These end up in the attic.
If a rebounder has a bounce that is too soft it will have less resistance which means less lymph flush. If it is too firm it will have a jarring bounce. If anyone has tried the Urban I bet you will relate. I do NOT promote rebounders that are too firm that make it hard to bounce a long time as it is hard on the knees. I also don’t promote rebounders that cone in. This makes people tend to jump with the feet near the edge of the rebounder with their legs at further than shoulder width stance that really can be harmful to the knees as its not a linear bounce.
With the Cellerciser and Health Circulator, you should not have to stand on the tippy edge of the mat to get more bounces per minute. The Cellerciser is my pick for a rebounder that gives less bounces per minute than the Lymphaciser or Health Circulator. Many people want to evolve their rebounder from multi purpose to a dedicated Health Bounce rebounder. Please take my Rebounder Quiz to pick out the right one based on your answers.
